My friend has a 4M printer that gives her an "Out of Paper" error. The cables appear OK and are properly connected and the printer does have paper. I've even tried varying the amount of paper. Has anyone seen this problem before? I am sure her printer is not unique in this error! Thanks!

Check on Ebay.. the parts kits for the fuser and roller kits are avail there for considerable less than the $250.

Take the printer off-line ( hit the on-line button so the light goes out). Hit the menu button until you see "test". Hit the item button till it says "self test" the hit "enter". It will give you a configuation page that will list the total pages printed for the life time of the machine.

Hi,

How do I check the page count?

Could be fuser, power supply, dc controller or wiring harness. Most likely its the fuser. Do you know the page count on the machine? What roller are you talking about? The drum in the cartridge, or the upper roller in the fuser(it comes with a new fuser)?
If it has a page count of less than 100,000 pages i would probably buy it but you might want to have it checked out first. Have the 50 error checked, the exit rollers, and main drive assembly gears, and main motor gear. These are the most commen parts i change.

Hi,

I believe the error indicates a need to replace the fuser and the roller (if this is the problem). Is it worth it to pay $50 to own this used printer if it will cost me up to $250 to replace the fuser and the roller?

Thanks for any suggestion.
