paul h is correct about the broken gear on the hp 4l, and probably other hp printers with the same problem. the little but all important gear on the motor cracked on my 4l too. when it cracked it slipped about halfway off the shaft of the motor and though the motor turned, the gear didn't. no paper feed. i didn't want to wait for or pay for a new motor and gear assembly if it didn't have to. thanks to paul h i was able to remove the motor, and removed the gear. crack was difficult to see but it was there.
i hack sawed off about a 1/4" piece of the coax cable end of an (rg6?) catv crimp connector and gently tapped it down over the clean end of the gear. i cut the piece just long enough to fit over the 'clean' area of the gear, so it wouldn't interfere with the large gears the motor drives. it was a good tight fit. i pushed the gear back onto the motor shaft until it was good and snug. replaced the motor, replaced the circuit board and shield. works for now. print seems clearer; perhaps before the printer stopped working entirely the cracked gear introduced some jitter into the printing process as the paper was pulled through.
here's a picture of the connector:

My HP 4L printer make a continusly noise when the motor rotate (3-4 clicks a second). May be somewhere near fuser (don't cause by the fuser).

Also I have frequent jams.

How can I operate the printer without the cover? To observe where the noise come. I have been pressing the button pushed by cartridge door but it needs something more!

---

Also another one same printer don't word because of not rotation or the D shape roller that pick up the sheets. How can I remove this assembly?

(I "learn" to break aprart the printer successfully).
